KTP is a new and upcoming artist. She is not new to poetry, but new to combining poetry with music! This is her very first EP. She was born in Long Beach, CA. She grew up in both California and Nevada and currently calls Las Vegas "Home". Her Father was a Navy Military Power plant Engineer and her mother was an Actress and model in the Philippines.
She started writing at a very young age, and in fact won poetry contests. Her first ever contest was at 11 years old where she was a finalist, but she had to fly to Los Angeles to share it in front of judges and an audience in order to complete the competition. Sadly, she was not allowed to go. She was told by those closest to her that Poetry was a waste of time, and not worth anything. So after this influence she didn't do much with her poetry, in fact, she threw away most poems she would write. As she was convinced it was just a little hobby.
The first poem she ever wrote as a young girl was about peace and kindness to save the world and the second poem was a complicated love story that ended in tragedy influenced by Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Then she started moving into poems that fit hallmark cards. As she got older she started getting into the deeper layers of poetry.
KTP has written poems in many categories, such as, Romantic, Inspirational, Women Empowerment, etc. She has overcome a lot in her life, which has delayed her pursuit in poetry, several life challenges, long storms and taking care of family health sufferings. Which makes this new journey as an Artist even more special. She is an advocate against all Domestic Violence and Sexual Violence/Trafficking and has worked on projects associated with this cause to encourage others. She has worked with a Director to create poetry in the introduction of a non-profit play that was dedicated to child abuse awareness.
Krystal the Poet is multi-faceted and has different passions, however, her favorite of all is to write about Love and Romance. She has many projects in mind she would love to work on. And this is only the beginning. She has so much she wants to share to the world.
Whether it's just feel good entertainment or it encourages you to find love again. There's always something good in love poetry.
Two of her favorite poets of all time are "Maya Angelou" and "Shakespeare".
There is a beauty, a sexy and strength that Maya Angelou encompassed as a writer that always spoke to Krystal the Poet.
